I seem to be having the very same problem all the time! Polygons near the centerline of the object are moved toward, or away from, the center of the object in a smoothly-curved manner. This is driving me nuts. If your model came from earlier versions of ZBrush and had n-gons in the base mesh then the edgelooping may not be consistent across axis. With symmetry restored, the object can be edited using mirror-symmetry modes in the Transform palette.
